Colin Morgan on season 3: "Darker things to come..."

12/23//09

Merlin Blog - Merlin TV ShowAccording to The Coventry Times "Geek Files" Colin Morgan reflects on season 2 of Merlin and predicts "darker things to come in season 3."
Colin Morgan revealed in the Geek Files interview:

DOES THE DRAMATIC SECOND SERIES FINALE SET THE TONE FOR THE THIRD SERIES?

I think so. Those who have been following the second series will see as it has progressed it gets quite dark. It's setting up quite a lot of serious storylines for the future, and it is taking a darker tone. It still has that humour and charm, but there's definitely those darker themes taking over. Definitely, by the end of the second series, a lot of the characters, especially Merlin and also one other character, will have been changed forever, really. Big things are happening and big things are yet to come. So hopefully those storylines will be continued.

Richard Wilson stars in Twelfth Night

12/22//09

At 73, Richard Wilson is having his Shakespearian debut as Malvolio in Twelfth Night.

Wilson talks about his decision in The Evening Standard.

“Greg said to me years ago, When I direct Twelfth Night I want you to play Malvolio'. I said Yeah, sure'.” Wilson's overwrought Scottish enunciation fills the phrase with blasé sarcasm. “When he told me it was happening this year I said, Am I not too old?' He said no. So I found myself saying yes to this very scary thing.”

The Fires of Idirsholas recap by Lady_Valerie

12/15//09

Lady_Valerie has stepped up again and written another awesome recap for The Fires of Idirsholas! (She also wrote the Beauty & the Beast Part 1 Recap.) Here's an excerpt from The Fires of Idirsholas!

Merlin Blog - Merlin TV ShowAt the Citadel of Idirsholas, in a dark room overhung with spider webs and decay, the powerful sorceress Morgause chants a spell as she circles a group of ancient figures in iron masks who are set about a round table. One of the figures begins to move and Morgause smiles.

In Camelot, a herdsman approaches Uther at Court and tells him that he had taken his flock to the valley beneath the Citadel of Idirsholas. He reports that he saw smoke rising from the Citadel, but nothing else. The herdsman reminds Uther that no one has been inside the Citadel for 300 years, but suggests that Uther must know the legend.

Gaius speaks, saying that the legend says when the Fires of Idirsholas burn, the Knights of Medhir will ride again. Uther rewards the herdsman with food and lodging and then tells Arthur to ride out to investigate the happenings at Idirsholas. Arthur makes it clear that he does not believe in the legend. Merlin, however appears concerned.

AwwGwenNdArthur's WHSMITH Book Signing Report

12/10/09

Our roving reporters were hard at work this week! AwwGwenNdArthur was also at the WHSmith book signing and we are lucky enough to have her report:

Hi I'm AwwGwenNdArthur, official 700th member of the Merlin Fan Site.

On the Tuesday 8th December me and four other friends visited Lakeside Shopping Centre after college to see Colin Morgan and Bradley James from "Merlin" as you can probably tell, I was sooooo excited to meet them. We stood in the queue for about an hour when all of a sudden, I looked over my friend's shoulder to see Bradley James heading straight for the signing table. I stood in shock staring at him, when my friend Alex spotted him and screamed like a high pitched fan girl. To be honest, I would if I wasn't standing in star-struck ore!

We managed to get the front of queue when I was face-to-face with Colin Morgan! We said "Hi" to each other and complimented on what a nice day it was. We chatted briefly before him making a very nice comment that I have a lovely name! OMG I nearly passed out!!! Next came Bradley James. Once again we said "Hi" and chatted. Afterwards he said "where is Helen?" I was about to speak when my friend Alex interrupted with "It's not her it's me!!!" As a joke of course, but Bradley observed the humour and commented to me "How does that make you feel Helen, someone's nicking your name?" I laughed and said "I know, so mean!" It was funny.

Next up came the picture, which will be forever my favourite picture. There was five of us, as said before, and I GOT TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF COLIN AND BRADLEY!!!! I was chuffed!!! Colin turned around and joked about our large group. Once the picture was taken, we were shuffled off to the side and we thanked Colin and Bradely for their time. They both said thank you for coming. But I will never forget that day!

One thing I noticed is that people were giving Colin and Bradley gifts. I saw the very nice: a Terry's chocolate orange dark, and the peculiar: cards with their faces on (WTF?!?) Then again, I nearly gave them a Mars Bar!

Thanks again for this briliant report AwwGwenNdArthur!!!

EllenofCamelot's WHSMITH Book Signing Report

12/09/09
EllenOfCamelot was lucky enough to attend the Colin and Bradley book signing at WHSmith yesterday and she's brought back the pictures and a cool report:

Who did you see?
Only Colin and Bradley were there, (with lots of body guards and important looking people) but i think the two main actors of our favourite programme were plenty enough!!

What was it like getting "up close" to Colin and Bradley?
It didn't sink in until today. I handed my book to Colin first, who said 'Hi' and asked my name. My sister had drawn a picture of Arthur from episode 10 series 1, and gave it to Bradley (who has a beard at the moment!). He said 'thank you very much!' and that it was 'a work of art' and Colin said 'oh, that's excellent'. Then we asked if we could have our picture taken with them and they said 'of course'. Bradley remarked that it was a big group (there were 5 of us) Colin turned around in his chair and pretended to scream. I was standing directly behind Colin (my favourite) and was just an inch away!! Bradley signed my book, and when I said 'thank you' in a star struck voice, he said 'you're very welcome' !I really enjoyed myself and the two guys were lovely!

What were the fans like?
There were people of all ages there - primary school children to college students -and everyone was really excited.

Were the fans crazy?
No, not really, although my friend Alex (who is a boy) screamed when he saw Colin and Bradley walking past us!

Were there big lines?
Yes, we got there about half and hour early, so luckily we weren't near the back. The queue extended the fenced off area, all the way into the shopping centre.

Did anything crazy or funny happened?
I saw someone give Colina 'Terry's chocolate orange' and someone else gave them a christmas card with their faces on.
