GAIUS' STORY

Gaius is the Court Physician and a respected member of the Camelot community. He appears to have been close friends with Uther, and is privy to all of Uther's secrets.

Gaius also has some secrets of his own-- he practiced magic before the Great Purge, and is in love with a physician [Alice] who is a sorcerer. He also knows Hunith (Merlin's mother) although it isn't clear how or what their relationship is/was, and he knew Balinor was a Dragonlord and Merlin's father. He knew of the existence of the Great Dragon and of the High Priestess of the Old Religion [Nimueh] and how she played the role in the birth of Arthur, the death of Igraine, and how that caused the beginning of the Great Purge.

Gaius is Merlin's guardian and knows of Merlin's secrets and Destiny. Throughout the series, he plays a fatherly figure in Merlin's life, and assists Merlin in saving Arthur on many occasions.

GAIUS' RELATIONSHIPS

	Name: Merlin
	Occupation: Arthur's manservant
	Relationship: Hunith sent Merlin to Gauis for Gauis to protect him. Merlin lives in close corridors with Gauis, and Gauis has become to love him. He has shown he is willing to give his life for Merlin's, as well as others.

	Name: Morgana
	Occupation: Witch
	Relationship: Morgana is the king's ward, and has been seeing Uther for treatment for nightmares since she was little. Gauis has a very strong fatherly affection towards Morgana. He has kept her secret of magic from Uther and even Morgana in order to protect her.

	Name: Uther Pendragon
	Occupation: Deceased King of Camelot
	Relationship: Gauis is the court physician and has served Uther for many years. Gaius often advises Uther on important matters however on matters of magic it is rare that Uther ever listens to Gaius - he is Uther's confident.

	Occupation: Future Queen of Camelot
	Relationship: Gwen trusts and respects Gaius. She often helps Gaius when he is treating a patient.

	Occupation: King of Camelot
	Relationship: They don't have much contact but Arthur respects Gaius' opinion.

	Relationship: They appear to have met before and to know each other.

I think that Gaius is a great character, I like the fact that he takes care to let Merlin do his magic, but is also a great friend to merlin and keeps an eye out for him. Was Gaius ever married? signed willow

Gaius is such a good friend to Uther- i thought i'll make this thread to dedicate him.
My sister always laughs when she see's him (age 9) She made a group sort of thing for a joke, and named it Gaius Girls.

I just wanted to mention that he has shewn his ability, although rusty, to practice magic in "th poisoned chalice" where he put a spell on the potion to enhance its abilities.

And for the quotes, i think perhaps "Magic isn't to be used for tricks merlin" or somewhere along the lines of that should count.
