GWEN'S STORY

Guinevere, more commonly known as Gwen, in series 1 and series 2, was the maidservant of Lady Morgana and the daughter of the local blacksmith, Tom (he was falsely accused of sorcery in series 1 and was killed). Despite living in poverty and the heavy demands of her job, Gwen is cheerful and kind to all she meets. Guinevere was one of the first people to be kind to Merlin, who was in the stocks at the time and completely helpless (series 1).

In series 1 and series 2, Guinevere was fiercely loyal to her mistress, Morgana and the two were very close friends. In series 3, episode 10, Gwen learns that Morgana is evil. Their relationship falls apart as series 4 progresses and Morgana reveals herself as a witch to everyone in Camelot.

In series 3, Gwen discovers her long lost brother ,Elyan, who is the only family she has left.

In Season 4, the trusted Knights of the Round Table know of her relationship with Arthur. Uther (now deceased in series 4 episode 3) does not know, and forbids Guinevere from marrying Arthur. Morgana's visions, in series 3, however, have confirmed the marriage between Guinevere and Arthur somewhere in the future. Gwen is now married to Arthur.

GWEN'S RELATIONSHIPS

	Name: Merlin
	Occupation:Arthur's manservant
	Relationship: Merlin and Gwen became good friends from the first meeting. She had a crush on Merlin but has now grown out of it, but still remains very close friends.

	Name: Gaius
	Occupation: Court physician
	Relationship: Gaius and Gwen get along well and it is clear that she respects his opinions.

	Name: Uther Pendragon
	Occupation: Deceased King of Camelot
	Relationship: She had been imprisoned and was almost sentenced to death by Uther, and her father was executed by him, she hates the King, but tolerates him. In series 4, episodes 1-2, she is seen as servant to King Uther. When King Uther dies in series 4, episode 3, and Arthur is proclaimed King, Guinevere appears to be a servant of the royal household.

	Name: Morgana
	Occupation: Witch
	Relationship: Although Gwen is Morgana's maid they share a close friendship. In season 2 Morgana seems to think that Gwen is getting fed up of Morgana's dreams although Gwen appears as supportive as ever. As of series 3, Gwen and Morgana are no longer friends as Gwen realizes Morgana no longer mean good to anyone. This still holds true for series 4.

	Name: Arthur
	Occupation: King of Camelot
	Relationship: Gwen has a lot of faith in Arthur and believes that he'll be the greatest king Camelot will ever have. There were many difficulties to their relationship such as Gwen kissing Merlin, Lancelot and now with Gwaine. There are hints that the two of them may end up together. In Season 2 Gwen and Arthur kiss but Arthur says that nothing can happen as Uther wouldn't understand or allow it. Gwen is hopeful however that when Arthur is King things could be different. In series 3, Gwen and Arthur are still in a relationship, but had to keep it secret. In series 4, Arthur, who has now been crowned King, is openly in love with Guinevere. Arthur and Gwen are now married.
