Official BBC Press Release Saturday 19th December BBC ONE Here is a preview to the season finale: "The Last Dragonlord". The second season looks to end with a bang as the Great Dragon is freed, but who is this mysterious "Balinor"? Sound off on the link below, and tell us what you think will happen in the explosive finale of the second season of Merlin!
The Great Dragon is finally free and, full of rage, attacks Camelot with pitiless intensity, in the final episode of the magical family drama. | The Sins of the Father recap by Black_Unicorn
11/17//09
Doubly Big thanks to Black_Unicorn who did double duty on recaps! (She also did the brilliant recap for Lancelot and Guinevere.) Check out an excerpt of her "The Sins of the Father" Recap!
The episode opens at a ruined castle at night time. A sorceress, Morgause, is leaning over a crystal saying an enchantment. She then whispers, "Arthur Pendragon. The fight for your soul is about to begin."
In Camelot, Uther is knighting knights. He reminds them how it is a great honor and responsibility to serve as a knight. He also reminds them how they have pledged to follow the knight's code.
Meanwhile, a mysterious knight is fighting the guards of the castle. She slays five of them and then bursts in on the ceremony. She then throws her gauntlet at Arthur's feet, meaning a challenge. Arthur accepts the challenge but asks to see her face. The mysterious knight takes off her helmet and shakes her blond hair. "My name is Morgause." Arthur is shocked.

| Are the Screen Writers Trying to Introduce the Idea of Gaius' Death? 11/10//09
We already know that chances are Gaius (played by Richard Wilson) is not going to survive season 2. This has been implied several times by interviews with actors and screen writers, and even now remains a huge part of fan speculation.
The question seems to be: are the screen writers trying to get viewers used to the idea of Gaius dying?
The logical answer is yes, the screen writers are trying to introduce this idea. Already we've seen Gaius have two-near death experiences. The first was in season 1, when Gaius offered to trade his life for Hunith's in order to prevent Merlin from doing the same. But on some crafty magic of Merlin's, Gaius was able to survive this complicated life-swap. In the latest episode, Gaius was framed as a sorcerer by the witch-finder Aredian. Of course, Gaius originally wasn't the accused; he willingly stepped into the spotlight in order to draw Aredian's attentions away from Merlin.
In both scenarios, we can see that Gaius loves Merlin like his own son. He is completely willing to die in order to save Merlin, partly because he loves him and partly because he knows that Merlin has so much to live for while Gaius' life is wrapping to an end. He has taught Merlin as much as he can about magic- now he just tries to reinforce those ideas as Merlin acts like an idiot in Camelot.
Another piece of information we can glean from this is that the Great Dragon has no love for Gaius. If Gaius is placed in another near-death situation and his survival depends upon the Great Dragon, we can definitely kiss the physician good-bye. Of course, one might argue that Merlin would convince the Great Dragon to save Gaius because "he's important to him," but one should also remember that the Great Dragon did not know how to save Gaius from Aredian's accusations. If the Great Dragon had known what to do, would he actually have told Merlin? We don't really know.
In short, we can expect Gaius' death in the near future. He has no further role in Merlin's life as a teacher- the only value he has left is his death, which will of course deeply affect Merlin. We can expect that Gaius will die trying to save Merlin (and that this will make our lovely sorcerer even more upset and guilty). Finally, we can expect that the Great Dragon will either withhold the information that will save Gaius' life, play a part (direct or indirect) in his death, or simply watch smugly.
Three has always been a magical number. We've had two near-death experiences for Gaius, and according to the phrase "third time's the charm," we can assume that the next will not be so near.

| The Witchfinder recap by Sarkoloff
11/09//09
Big thanks to Sarkoloff who at the eleventh hour took on the Merlin Recap duty for the week! The tradition on excellent fan recaps continue with Sarkoloff's brilliant retelling of "The Witchfinder". Check out an excerpt of "The Witchfinder" Recap!
As the story opens we find Merlin out in the nearby woods of Camelot gathering wood. He sits down away from the others to rest for a moment, staring at the the smoke from the fire. Bored and curious, Merlin decides to try a little magic; figuring that it won't be seen by anyone and therefore harmless. From the smoke, he produces the image of a horse. Merlin is seemingly quite pleased and satisfied with what he's created, until a village woman runs up to him in near hysterics, having just seen the 'harmless' bit of magic that Merlin just performed. The woman, fearing that it must be some sort of sorcery, runs back to the kingdom yelling back to Merlin along her way, "The King must be told of this!"; while Merlin's pleas for her to "Wait!"

11/02//09
The lovely amk358 took on the Merlin Recap duty for the week and has given us an awesome retelling of "Beauty and the Beast (Part 2)" Check out an exerpt from her recap:
Lady Catrina is sitting in her bedchamber by the window, in the castle brushing her hair delicately and speaking to her servant Jonas. They are discussing the problem of Merlin and how to get him out of the way. Jonas asks, “But what about the boy Merlin he knows your secret?”
Catrina replies, “Leave him to me.”
Suddenly Uther comes in and begins to rail about how happy he is to spend time with Catrina alone. She tells him that she is very upset as she had one possession remaining that belonged to her family and meant everything to her, her family seal. She tells Uther that it has been stolen and that it was Arthur’s servant Merlin who committed the crime. Uther says that he will have Merlin arrested directly and goes to summon his guard.
