I became interested in Merlin a litltle while ago. I had heard of the series, but for some reason never got to watch it. But now I know that my favorite actor Nathaniel Parker will be in the series, it was a good excuse to start watching. Ofcourse I started with the first episode ever made, and was I in for a treat. To hear the voice of John Hurt was great, what a wonderful (voice) actor that man is. I loved the "sort of" tension between Arthur and Merlin. As a lady I looked at the dresses with eager interest and I wasn't disappointed. The only thing that shocked me in this episode, was the change of the old lady into Lady Helen. I loved her singing scene. I must say that I loved everything I saw. I have to watch the episode again, because there was so much that catched my eye, that I am sure I missed half of it. But it was a good first episode for Merlin. I got to know some of the characters, and I love some of them. Anthony Head is great as King and both Bradley and Colin were a nice surprise. I never heard of them before, but they have a bright future ahead of them. I am looking forward to watch the rest of the episodes. I still have a long way to go untill series 4. I must say that I found some simularities with Doctor Who. Maybe people don't agree with me, but it seems to me that one sort of villain or whichcraft has the central stage in an episode. I like both very much, but I couldn't help noticing some things in Merlin that reminded me of Doctor Who.Who ever did the special effects on Merliin, did a great job.
