  • MWT: The Merlin Withdrawal Thread Hello all,

After watching the season finale on Saturday, and seeing the "Secrets and Magic - That's A Wrap" on Youtube, I have begun to have some serious Merlin withdrawals! Just thinking that the filming for Season 3 is going to take another 8 months... : ( wow. Here come the withdrawals.

Anyway, I thought I'd start a thread where we can all commiserate, speculate, and anticipate Season 3 together! : )

    Waiting, semi-patiently,

    --U.T.

By the way... is there any more news out there on Season 3 besides the fact that it has been confirmed? Really, I'm dying to know!

  • Merlin Season 3 Speculations
"Ive seen versions where Morgana/Arthur is Modreds parents, But ive also seen more versions where Morgause is his mother, therefore Morgana would be Modreds aunt. This would make more sense in the direction it appears to be going atm. Plus their has been no hint of Arthur/Morgana getting it on so far! lol. So i think it is too late for the writters to go down that path now.
    "
Hmm that would be interesting if Morgause was Mordred's mother in this version (in that case Arthur can't be his father, since Arthur & Morgause didn't know each other at all prior to their first meeting in season 2). There haven't been any blatant hints of an Arthur/Morgana relationship, but there was some flirting in season 1 that seemed to have a weird vibe to it, suggesting that there might be something behind it that we don't know about (yet). Also, I don't think Morgana's bond with Mordred just sprung up out of the blue - I think there's something behind it as well. They would've had to have been quite young when Mordred was born, since I'm guessing he's like 6 at the time (and Arthur and Morgana are 20-sometings), but wasn't Arthur pretty young in the legends when he fathered Mordred (18, if I remember correctly)? They wouldn't show HOW Mordred, uh, came about, since it's a family show and there will be little kids watching, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mordred's parents were revealed to be Arthur/Morgana (the writers would have to do a flashback, but I wouldn't put it past them).
This is all speculation, of course, but that's what this thread is for, isn't it?
One more question for anyone out there - do the writers ever tell us how old the characters are? I always thought that the main four (Morgana, Merlin, Arthur, and Gwen) were early-mid twenties, with the relative order of their ages being Morgana > Arthur > Merlin and Gwen. I might've missed something, though.

  • Weekly Merlin episode reviews and previews Being a big Merlin fan and always wanting to write reviews, I thought..why not?
I know there's already a thread about user reviews, but I tend to overuse text and pictures in my reviews, so I'm going to do this on my blog.
I'm going to try and get an episode review up every sunday trying to break down what I liked about the episode of last night, while trying to stay objectivly and not get clouded by my own opinion. Which will probably not happen;p

If you're interested, check it out, if not then don't. Feedback about my english (since it IS a foreign language for me) and overall reviewing style is always welcomed =) I'm trying to learn!

Also, hello forum. This is my first post! So greetings! I'm going to try and last longer here then on previous forums, so here's to a long time of posting

    Note there are spoilers:

  • TV Fandex-What is it and how it Relates to Merlin Hi, I'm spear401. I'm new to this blog, but I've been active on the Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles wiki (also Wetpaint) for months.

Traditionally, US tv show ratings have been measured by the Nielsen Co. using a very small sample of 18,000 households. TV Fandex is the genius idea of Wetpaint (and others) to measure FAN activity on the web. Blogs, articles, photos, Google searches (I think) -- any place our beloved show's name is mentioned -- is counted and measured.

Make sure to comment on any and all videos, articles, reviews, etc. while mentioning MERLIN. So...if you comment on a YouTube video, make sure to mention the show's name.

Last week on the Fandex; Merlin was 25, this week we are 44! Be active on this wiki and always mention Merlin when you post (anywhere on any blog, not just Merlin).

    Check it out at: http://www.wetpaint.com/page/TVFandex

    EDIT: MERLIN Rocks!!

  • Ways to support Merlin to help convince NBC to air Season 2 I hope it is okay that I started another thread. Also, I wasn't sure where to put this but I thought most people would see it here so this is where it landed. I wanted to get together a list of ideas for ways to help show NBC that renewing Merlin for a second season in the US is a good idea, so here are some ideas:

    As previously posted by

    E-MAIL:

To email NBC asking them to renew Merlin: http://www.nbc.com/Footer/Contact_Us/

About halfway down the page is "Questions not found on FAQ page about NBC Entertainment programming? Email us using the pulldown menu below:"

You have to use the pull-down menu to pick the show -- which is NOT on the list. Choose OTHER. Put "Merlin TV Show" in the subject line. Be polite and respectful. Tell them how wonderful the show is. Ask them to consider ordering Season 2. ETC., ETC.

    PAPER LETTERS:

These are really important because one letter represents hundreds of people.

    Addresses:

    This is the California address:

    3000 W. Alameda Ave.
    Burbank, CA. 91523

    New York:

    30 Rockefeller Plaza,

Send one, send ten, send one hundred! Just send one!

Watch the episodes online! NBC gets money from ads that play during the episodes, so if they are watched a lot it will prove that the show has an audience, which television people like!

    nbc.com/Merlin

    Follow Merlin on Twitter:

@reply them and tell them you want a season two!

    http://twitter.com/nbcmerlin/

For that matter, we could follow NBC and tell them we want to see a Merlin season 2, it may be one of the most direct ways to get in contact with them!

    http://twitter.com/nbc

We ALL need to be involved. Don't sit and let other people take control, or we will risk losing a great show.

    MERLIN ROCKS! :)

  • Season 3 Upload Thread with each season there has been a thread with links to the episodes..

let me help you out and get the thread started... now if some kind person from across the sea would add the links.. :)

    Edit Nov 6th

Wanted to come back and do an edit.. of all the links I've found this is the most reliable... you can
find all three seasons.. and new episodes are posted rather quickly.. the author usually includes two or three sources and I've always found at least one that works..

    http://merlin-streaming.blogspot.com/

My second favorite source is on YouTube.. only downside is its in bits.. still appreciate it though!

    Happy Watching!

  • Possible and Likely Death of Gaius!! One: If there is a discussion like this already, I am sorry and could you please point me in the right direction of where it is?

Two: The main attraction. The death of Gaius. Now, Smithsonian Girl just recently wrote an article saying that this event is possible and might actually happen. It's in the Merlin Blog, go read it, it's good. Now, if you're not going to read it and attempt to get information from here, I'll quote her a lot. And paraphrase her.
Now, her whole blog article is saying that the screenwriters are prepping the viewers for Gaius's death. Everything points to the fact that it's going to happen. Now, I can hear you, over time and space, gasping over this fact and coming to Gaius's defense. I can support this with ideas that Smithsonian Girl did not come up with.

Point One: Gaius is a shield for Merlin. Gaius is the Court Physian(sp?) and therefore has his own rooms. Also, he knows Merlin's secret. NO ONE ELSE in that castle knows that Merlin is magic. If Gaius dies, Merlin's main support system goes 'poof' into thin air. He will not be able to talk to ANYONE about magic, problems that arise to confront Arthur and himself, and all around life pop-ups. Ok, yes, Merlin CAN go to the dragon for magical advice, but that always comes with a price, and I don't see those two becoming bosom buddies ANY TIME SOON.
(To the admins, can I get italics on these things? I hate using an excess of capitals if I can use italics)
Point Two: Merlin has his own rooms connected to Gaius's. His own rooms in the castle where other servants are most likely BUNKED TOGETHER. Now, I wouldn't say packed in like cattle, but two to three in a room is not unreasonable. Families with multiple children do it all the time. When Merlin loses his own personal room, he loses the only place he can practice magic in private. And he needs this room to practice. More in next post.

  • "Another Fan!!!"
"I have just managed to watch the first two seasons of "Merlin" in less than a week!!! I am an American and I would love to know exactly how to tell the makers and actors of Merlin just how much I love the show...
Just in case any of them can see this: Please don't stop! Keep it coming! I was happy, I was sad, I was silly, I was serious, I was troubled, I was excited, I was laughing, I was angry, I was Cheering, and I was happy all over again...
I already love the characters and how they relate to one another. I greatly appreciate all the beautiful people both in front of and behind the camera who have made this show all that it is.
There is no need for any recasting at all. This show does not need to be remade or reinvented by anyone. Don't let anyone change it. I'm on the edge of my seat, popcorn in hand and ready for more!

My name is David. What else can I possibly say? I am "Another fan!!!""
Aww! Awesome David! Glad Merlin has another American fan! I'm in the US myself. I began watching Merlin on NBC 2 summers ago and then watched Season 2 on SyFy this past Spring. Season 3 just started last weekend in the UK and many of us have already seen the first 2 episodes online. Go to the Season 3 upload thread and you will find links to Season 3 episodes there! Welcome to the group!

Anyway, here's a transcript of all the Twitter Q&A Tom and Rupert did yesterday. I love Tom's answer to "What is the heaviest/most awkward thing Percival had to carry?"

  • Morgana and Morgause Yep, you've got all the information right. I actually just did a blog on Gorlois, Igraine, Uther, and the conception of Arthur for the site a few weeks ago, so all the info's fresh in my mind.

I think that even though Arthur and Morgana were half-siblings in myth, it's really unlikely that they would be in "Merlin." The logistics of it just wouldn't work out. Morgana and Arthur seem to be about the same age, for one thing. If Morgana's slightly younger she couldn't be Ygraine's daughter because Ygraine was dead by that point. If she's slightly older then Uther would have known Ygraine wasn't barren - it would have been impossible to hide the pregnancy and birth of Morgana from Uther, especially if he was trying to get her pregnant at the time.

The situations in "Merlin" are just totally different than they were in the myth: here, Gorlois was Uther's trusted friend, while in the myth they were enemies at war. I doubt a family show like Merlin would allow Uther to trick and basically rape Ygraine in order to conceive Arthur - here, they were husband and wife instead, etc. Similarly, Morgana and Morgause are most likely half-siblings here, and Morgana isn't related to Arthur.
