Roleplay thread! Now open!

(We have enough people now so we can start RolePlaying. I'll start off as I know how hard it is to start. Oh and I think for clarity, and out of character posts on this thread should be in brackets.)Morgana was in a contemplative mood. There hadn't been an emergency in Camelot for a while and there was an air of restful calm around. So she had time to think; to think a lot. And what she was currently thinking about was what she found she had been thinking about a lot recently; her...magick. Since her discovery of it she had found that she was forced to do some soul seeking. In one way it was a relief; to finally know. But on the other hand there was now a distant fear that she would lose control of it, that someone would see, and that Uther would find out. She told herself over and over that that wasn't going to happen but she couldn't help but worry in the back of her mind. Forcefully she shook off the mood she was in and stepped out of her chambers to take a walk to clear her head.... (Okay guys! Feel free to jump in with your characters!) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

(This is my OC, by the way, just in case your wondering :)Verdinius looked out over the courtyard, watching the full moon bathe the high walls of Camelot in a pale light. There were several knights patrolling the castle, and he saw (his heart skipped a beat) Morgana, shaking her head, walking with quite a pace. Why was she shaking her head? Had he done something wrong? Verdinius had felt like he had, ever since Morgana had returned from the forest of Ascetir, she had been distant, even moody sometimes. If only she could tell him what was on her mind, maybe he could help her. His feelings for Morgana had grown by the day, and he wished he could give them to her, with some hope that she may return them.... The storm had been building all day and now that the light was fading from the sky it finally erupted in a mass of thunder and lightning. A single fork jolted from the sky and hit the surface of the lake below. For a moment everything fell still then the waters shifted, the surface stirring, bubbling. Finally a face broke through the water, gasping for air. Looking up, bright blue eyes surveyed the dark storm clouds and a smile tugged at ruby red lips. After a moment she swam to the bank of the lake and walked out of the water, its icy fingers trying to hold her in, trying to keep hold of the life it had just given birth to. Nimueh breathed the cool air around her, looked down at herself and smiled. The gods of the old religion had not been happy that such a power had been removed from the Earth, that their high priestess had been destroyed, and had wished to solve the unbalance that it had caused. They were giving her a second chance and she would use it. Her laugh filled the air as loudly as the thunder had. Now, they would all pay. All those that had wronged her. She would have her revenge and she would watch them squirm at her feet. Death was too good for them. She began to make her way forward. She only had one destination in mind. Camelot. Uther Pendragon was... actually not in too bad of a mood. Almost a good mood, really, save for the daily annoyances of being a King. That was a rather singular event, considering how easy it was to annoy or anger him. Any mention of magic, for example, was enough to at least put him in a darker mood, if not push him into a tirade or an extreme bout of brooding. Recently, however, things had been rather quiet. Uther was almost prepared to hazard thinking his work in protecting his kingdom was, despite all the pit falls and rebelliousness he was faced with in his crusade, actually paying off. It was easy to draw that conclusion, really. There was no big problem plaguing the castle or the city right now and, conveniently, no obvious signs of anyone using magic. That had to mean, of course, that he was correct. He had seen his kingdom flourish under his laws, and now things were peaceful once more. If things continued peaceful, Uther would be vindicated, in the eyes of the people, for his apparently cruel and heavy handed stance on magic users. They would thank him, in the end. Of this he was certain. And because of this he was in a 'good' mood. He decided to go and check on his ward. She had seemed rather down in the dumps of late, and he had been too busy to really take notice of it. Now he found himself with a few moments, and thought going to check up on her might be a generous and attentive thing to do. He really did care for her, as he promised her father he would. Sometimes, though, her strong will and sharp tongue was just too vexing for him to deal with. He hoped she would, at least, be calm and talk to him about whatever it was that was causing her to be so distant and pensive. He was just walking up to her chambers when she stepped out of them, and he looked at her in slight, vaguely amused, surprise. “Ah, Morgana,” he said, nodding at her in greeting, “I was just coming to visit with you.” Do you find this valuable? |

Gwen paced the corridors, humming quietly to herself as she took the route she knew so well to Morgana's chambers. As always nowadays, though she tried not to, her thoughts were filled with Arthur and Lancelot. She sighed, dipping her head as she knocked on Morgana's door. Merlin awoke from a deep enveloping slumber sensing a disturbance somewhere deep within his very being. He had been dreaming of the day that Camelot would come to represent all that was good in the world. A world that men, no matter their station in life, were treated as equals with dignity and respect. In his dream he peered, as if through a magical mirror, at a world of sublime beauty only to suddenly see in the foreground a dark and ominous figure. His joy quickly turned to foreboding as the shadow began to take shape and reach out to him with icy fingers. Dreaming still, he wrapped his body in the magical power the great dragon had bestowed upon him as the shadow evaporated in the night mist. Now fully awake, his face still bathed in a glorious golden glow, the residue from his magical protection which had followed him from the dream world to the real world. "Must I only use magic in my dreams or hidden behind some old tree saving someone's life, usually Arthurs? " He was sick of pretending, sick of all the rules, and sick of the injustice. And what was this feeling he had that something was terribly wrong? Had something changed overnight? Merlin greeted the light of day pondering and lamenting until he heard the sharp voice of Gaius calling out to him. Do you find this valuable? |

Diara slowly walked through the streets of Camelot. She found a place where she could stay and rented a room. Depositing her items on the small bed, she allowed herself a small smile. Soon she would have her revenge. She suddenly looked around, feeling the presence of another magic user in Camelot for the millionth time that day. It seemed to grow stronger and fade as she approached andand walked away from the castle. Diara decided to investigate her feeling. She had to somehow get into the castle.

"Oh, what about?" she asked trying not to seem nervous. Uther didn't seem angry so she suspected that he didn't know about her powers and there was a completely unrelated reason for Uther's visit. He seemed to be in a good mood actually; so he's probably caught some magick user and wanted to invite Morgana to a celebration banquet or something. She hoped not though. Ever since she'd found out about her powers she hated Uther's persecution of innocent magick users even more horrifying.

Gwen paused, listening. As she did so, she heard the voices of the King and her mistress. She shivered involuntarily, clutching her bundle of sheets closer to her body. Even now, she was scared to be around the man who commanded her father to be killed.Slowly, she backed away, making a mental note to come back later. Do you find this valuable? |

"Nothing of note," he said with a wave of his hand. Uther smiled at her, a very slight and hardly discernible expression, though his eyes were warm. "I just wanted to see how you were, really. I've noticed of late that you have been a bit listless. Sad, even."He didn't like the idea that something was bothering her, though he knew she probably wouldn't want to confide in him. He was no fool in that regard: she was a young woman with her own problems, and even if he tried to play the father, the caretaker, he wasn't much for it and he didn't really deserve the right for her to confide in him. Even so, he was ruffled that she continued to keep her problems to herself. He was the King, after all. Maybe he could help. He didn't realize it was partly because of him that she was forced to secrecy. "Could you do with a walk? Shall we get some air? Or perhaps you would rather be alone," he didn't say it like he was a fan of the idea. He had, after all, come all the way over here to check on her. Do you find this valuable? |

Morgana was suprised by this turn of events. Sometimes it was hard to reconcile the idea of Uther as the fatherly, kind, protective man he could be and the magick-hating tyrant he was at most times. She waited a few seconds to consider. He wouldn't hesitate to execute her if he knew about her; but despite this she couldn't help but feel that she wanted to be Uther's 'daughter' like always. His coming here was proof that he at least cared."Yes, a walk would be great, thank you." Do you find this valuable? |

Uther nodded. He moved to walk with her, looking at her thoughtfully. There was something different about her. She looked tired, of course, but it was not just that. She was very troubled, and he was getting the impression that she was uncomfortable around him. It was a wonder, and he would have to pry a bit once she was at least comfortable with walking with him.He led her outside, needing a bit of fresh air himself, just wanting to walk with her as they had done a few times before. He doubted taking her to the gravesite would do much to lift her moods, though. So his footfalls were fairly aimless. "You seem very tired, Morgana," he commented offhandedly, though it certainly was anything but, "have you not been sleeping well again? I thought Gaius' draft has been helping." He looked at her, honest concern in his expression. He might be a king, a magic hating monster of a man sometimes, but he still had those few things he could care about. Morgana and Arthur brought out the good side in him, the human side. With them he could just be a man, instead of a stalwart king. Though, even with the option of shifting gears, he tended to stay with the latter. Do you find this valuable? |

"I...still have....nightmares although Gaius' drafts do help..." she was lying about the drafts helping, but she didn't want to do anything to arrouse his suspicion. In fact the nightmares were getting worse than ever. Last night's was particually bad; it was of bubbling water and a coming storm. Even though there wasn't anything particually frightening in the dream it had left an impression on Morgana. It had taken almost half an hour before her breathing had returned to normal and she could find the will to get out of bed. Every night she dreaded going to bed; she never knew whether she was going to have the nightmares or not.

Verdinius saw Morgana walking back towards the castle's main doors; she looked worried about something. It must be her dreams, he concluded. He really wished he could help her; he could visit her tommorow, pick her some flowers, and maybe it would cheer her up.Morgana was not the only one that suffered from nightmares. Last night Verdinius had seen a sorceress laughing coldly, Uther bleeding to death on the floor, but, more importantly, he had seen a raven heading straight for Camelot.... Uther was oblivious to all things Seer related. His dreams sometimes left him reeling when he woke, but they always faded. He couldn't see why Morgana was letting them affect her so badly. But he wasn't going to comment on it in that way, or imply she was weak because of it. He was the kind of guy who just assumed nightmares were different for girls. They were the fairer sex, after all. Not built for such things as nightmares could show them. He wondered what she saw. Whatever the case, she looked pitifully tired, and he did not really like seeing it. Maybe he was getting soft. "Perhaps he can make them stronger," he said on a sigh. It seemed he was always asking Gaius to make them stronger. "I wish we could do something for you to be rid of these nightmares of yours. They'll wear on your body. You already look so worn down. I'm worried for you, Morgana." It was a small confession, but not one he felt weak for making. She was important to him, and he wanted her healthy. Do you find this valuable? |

(Wow, i got carried away on this bit but i think i needed to!)Nimueh slowed as the turrets of Camelot came into view. She knew she could have teleported herself here but magic could be fickle and she didn’t want to pop up in the middle of the square. She would look far less suspicious if she walked through the front gates. Hiding in plain sight. She looked down at the tattered rags she was wearing. This would never do. As much as she would love rich clothing she would stand out far too clearly. No she would need peasant dress so she could mingle in the crowds. It didn’t take long for such an advantage to present itself. A woman, travelling by herself, probably going home after spending time in Camelot’s markets ambled past Nimueh. The woman wished Nimueh well and Nimueh smiled brightly at her before casting a spell. The woman froze on the spot. With a simple request the woman was handing over her clothes and cloak to Nimueh. The witch gave her own rags over and sent the woman on her way with no memory of her ever meeting anyone on the road. She could have easily killed the woman but if her body was found Camelot would be on guard. She needed them as relaxed as possible so that they would not see her coming. Not that any of them would. Merlin at least believed her dead. So much the better. She pulled on the newly acquired clothing. It wasn’t the most comfortable of fabrics but it was warm and it would disguise her well. Pulling the hood up to cover her face she began walking into Camelot. (had to split in 2) Do you find this valuable? |

At the gates no-one questioned her, and no-one tried to stop her. She smiled to herself. This was far too easy. She would find a place to stay to make as a base. This sort of work would need time and she would have to gather supplies and make careful enquiries. She knew magic still thrived in Camelot, right under Pendragon’s nose. There was Merlin of course, but there were others, others that could help her in her cause, willing or not.She was still contemplating various ideas when she was pulled up short. Ducking behind a wall she pulled up her hood fractionally, to have a clear view. King Uther Pendragon in all his pompous glory, parading around like a peacock. But it wasn’t really him that interested her at this moment it was the young woman beside him. Nimueh could feel the magic pouring off of her. Oh Uther was in magic deeper than he realised. Perhaps this woman, Nimueh vaguely remembered her from the last time she had visited Camelot, the king’s ward, Morgana, could be her first key. But first she would have discover what form her power took. Once she knew that, she could work her own magic. Sliding back against the wall she pulled the hood over her face once more and smiled to herself. Do you find this valuable? |

(I'm going to do this in first person, I'm afraid I have grown used to it!! :D)I just could not sleep. The silence was too loud. There was something wrong.I got up out of my bed, and walked over to my sword. I gasped in surprise. The pommel on my sword, a blue diamond, was glowing angrily. The last time it had done this, magic of the old religion had tried to destroy me. It had failed. I gazed around warily, for I would have to be careful. A great evil had come to come to Camelot. I doubted it was after me, I doubted it was even aware that I was here. But, still, I would have to be careful, and whatever, whoever it was, would have to be careful too..... By the time Merlin dressed and bolted down the stairs to answer Gaius' call there was not a sign of him anywhere save a cold bowl of porridge sitting on the old wooden table. The dream of the night before still haunted him and he could not shake the feeling that a dark and malevolent force was about to threaten Camelot. Who could he confide in? Who could he trust? Who could calm his growing agitation? Yes there was Gaius, but still how could he ever understand the mind and spirit of the magical when he had never tasted its' power? If only he could share his secret with Morgana. She would be so relieved to know that another understood what she was agonizing over. Perhaps he would see her today and look for ways to help her calm her fears, without being too obvious. With firm resolve he started down the hall to Morgana's chamber, all the while making sure that Arthur was not in sight. At last he reached her door. Do you find this valuable? |
