Official BBC Press Release:

Saturday 12 December
6.05-6.50pm BBC ONE

When the fires of Idirsholas burn for the first time in 300 years, Gaius fears a sorcerer has revived the deadly Knights of Medhir, in the penultimate episode of the magical family drama. Morgause has returned, hell-bent on ending Uther's reign.

Arthur and Merlin ride out to face the Knights and barely escape with their lives. Upon returning home, they find everyone in Camelot is under a strange enchantment – all except for Morgana. Could she be behind the magic which threatens the Kingdom? As Morgause and her Knights attack a helpless Camelot, Merlin's loyalties are stretched to the limit.

Gaius is played by Richard Wilson, Morgause by Emilia Fox, Uther by Anthony Head, Arthur by Bradley James, Merlin by Colin Morgan and Morgana by Katie McGrath.

Starring: Colin Morgan (Merlin), Angel Coulby (Gwen), Bradley James (Arthur Pendragon), Katie McGrath (Morgana), Anthony Head (Uther Pendragon), Richard Wilson (Gaius), John Hurt (Voice of the Great Dragon)

Guest Starring: Emilia Fox (Morgause)

(Sounds Exciting! =D)

Ooooooo sound vey exciting!!!!! :D
Just seen the behind the scenes of 'Sins of the Father' and Anthony head says that Morgause will continue on into Series three, so either there going to drag Morgana/Morgause are sisters story out for a while. Or Morgana will find out in this episode and Uther wont be able to have Morgause killed. Because there bound to conect something with Morgana being the only one unafected!!! Cant wait to see it now!
Thnx for posting Cornelius Sigan!!!

Hey no problem =D

I'm thinking that the bracelet Morgause gave Morgana will protect her from this spell Morgause will cast over Camelot. Or it may be her magical powers that are keeping her safe, or Morgause left Morgana out of the spell; who knows? :D

Either way, it will throw Morgana into suspicion; Arthur might find out about her before anyone else? :S Obviously Merlin already knows so he may try and remind her of "magic as a force for good" motto. I hope Morgana doesn't turn evil just yet; I was hoping for a relationship between her and Merlin, but it appears she has more important things to deal with in herself this season. Maybe series 3?

Those knights don't sound very friendly do they? (In the trailer they reminded me a little of the Nazgul in Lord of the Rings! :S)

Maybe Merlin reaches a point in this episode where he needs the Dragon's help, and the Dragon will probably say that the only way the knights can be killed is by a "Dragon's Breath"
(Or something like that!) and Merlin will have no choice but to release him.

The dragon destroys the knights of Medhir, but then attacks the people of Camelot. Morgause is like :O and gets out of Camelot sharpish, and then it builds up to Episode 13!

(Remember, this is all a theory, so there is no need to put me down, just add your ideas! =D I'm sorry I have to say this but it has been happening on other threads.)

Yeah i think it will be due to the bracelet or just the sister conection that stops the spell working.
I dont think Morgana will turn evil for a while, i hope anyway. But in episode 11(i think?) she helps Mordred again doesnt she. So they are slowly having her pull away from Uther and more into the world of magic, and eventual evil. But i think if they plan to do 5 or 6 series of Merlin which i read someplace then id imgine it wouldnt be untill the final series that Morgana turns evil! so there will be a long wait.lol.
I just wonder what the 'Merlin's loyalties are stretched to the limit' bit means? Im intrigued by that as i wonder who he could be torn between, perhaps Morgana and Arthur. If indeed Morgana is blamed maybe he wants to protect her but Arthur suspects her of Sorcery! I dont know but really want to watch it now! :D
No the Knights dont sound very friendly! havent seen te trailer but have just watched LOTR(strangely enough! lol) and if they are like the Nazgul Arthur and Merlin had better watch out! :)

The more I read of the last few episodes the more excited I get. I find it strange how Arthur faces these Knights alone with Merlin. If he planned to face the knights it would make more sense to bring his knights with him, not Merlin.

I believe Morgana is being protected by the bracelet. Although I don't think she is unaware of what is going on. I think this choice will show her true loyalities. I think she will side with her sister. She did want to stay with the Druids that one time. It makes sense she will side with people of magic.
I wonder if this episode will lead into the last episode. I understand the dragon will be let free in that episode.

I also thought I heard Lancelot will return this season. I have not heard any thing about his return beyond rumours. I was hoping he would return though.

Well im not too sure about Lancelot, however im liking whats happening with the dragon having to be set free to kill the knights.
I did read that excalibur is to come back, now is that powerful enough to kill a dragon?????? (would be quite ironice a sword that the dragon made kills him aha)
Surely they cant kill the dragon maybe he can be recaptured though????

It does beg the question why would Arthur take Merlin i suppose they might be doing some sort of seacret reconisince mission and get caught nearley killed reurn to camelot, they're definetley going to have to support each other when everyone else in Camelot is oblivious. Great way for the friendship.

I really don't want the dragon to be killed. I'm sure any weapon can kill him its just the problem of getting close enough without being toast.

I want the dragon to get away. I would like to see future episodes where Merlin meets up with the dragon in a different setting. Merlin constantly talking with the dragon beneath the castle can get old after two season.
I would also like to see the dragon speak with Arthur. Maybe the dragon can give advice on his destiny.
There is so much more to explore with the dragon. Not only that how many shows out there have a talking dragon.

I agree, it would be nice if they changed up the dragon somewhat.

In fact, I find it strange that after 1.5 seasons only two people have spoken to the dragon.

Do you know i think that would be great if that was to happen Arthur meeting the Dragon,i doubt the Dragon would tell him Merlin visits unless it was Merlin who took him to visit in the first place. aybe they will have some sort of word at the end of the series!!!! Do you find this valuable?

Hm, what if Gaius yet again says that the only way to stop the knights is by magic and Merlin has to reveal to Arthur his magic and that's how only them two can go to face the knights... Just a thought ...

The UK itunes site has put ep12 up for download rather than ep11 by mistake. I have just finished watching it. £1.89 very well spent.

I won't say too much other than.....wow.....and...er.....wow! Fantastic episode!

How so?

I watched it and thought it was brilliant, took me back to the days where the series created a decent amount of suspense and even had me yelling things at merlin (Don't you cut that bloody chain!!).

I have to say I never really read much into Arthurian legend before the Merlin series, but I definitely will be. I don't know how the dragon fits into it all, but having him finally freed only to go and burn down Camelot (despite it being SO obvious it would happen) was a bit of a kick in the nuts. How about having Uther finally kick it and Merlin letting someone other than gaius know he has magic!

It'll be a sad day when this series end, I only hope they don't leave us on too much of a cliffhanger, a week between episodes is too much!
