Season 2 Finale!
Nov 24 2009, 3:16 PM EST
Official BBC Press Release: The Great Dragon is finally free and, full of rage, attacks Camelot with pitiless intensity, in the final episode of the magical family drama. The castle is crumbling and Arthur's men cannot hold out much longer. Only a Dragonlord can kill a dragon and Uther wiped them all out years ago – or did he? Gaius admits one such man could still be alive and in hiding. The last Dragonlord is the key to Merlin's own past as well as the future of Camelot, but will Arthur and Merlin find Balinor in time to save the kingdom and can they persuade him to return to Camelot to save his enemy, Uther? The Great Dragon is voiced by John Hurt, Arthur is played by Bradley James, Uther by Anthony Head, Gaius by Richard Wilson, Merlin by Colin Morgan and Balinor by John Lynch. Starring: Colin Morgan (Merlin), Angel Coulby (Gwen), Bradley James (Arthur Pendragon), Katie McGrath (Morgana), Anthony Head (Uther Pendragon), Richard Wilson (Gaius), John Hurt (Voice of the Great Dragon) Guest Starring: John Lynch (Balinor) (Any Ideas? Personally I'm thinking the Dragon might have been freed the epiosde before to kill those knights, and that Balinor could be Merlin's Father? Any ideas and theories for the final episode of Season 2, please post here!) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Thanks for posting that Sigan!! - sounds Awesome. but when they say "last episode" i hope they mean of the series... i hope they do a few more seriesYeah, i agree Balinor is Merlin's father! As for the dragon being freed.... i'm not sure, maybe Morgana... maybe Mordred... who knows.... Morgause?? I'm not so sure Merlin will free him, he doesn't trust the dragon! wow that sounds sooooo interesting....If the Dragon is free that means that Merlin had to set him free maybe in episode 12? It can be that Balinor is Merlin's father... Already season finale...we have been spoiled...we wish this season could last forever...then we have to hope there will be a third season, but I think the cast needs to rest before... 2 out of 2 found this valuable. I don't doubt her powers, but I'm not sure she has what it takes to defeat a Dragon. There is a small trailer shown at the Cardiff Winter Wonderland Lights, and I'm certain Merlin breaks the chain in he trailer somewhere, take a look! :D http://www.merlintvshow.com/video/8148495/Merlin+Trailer+%3A+Cardiff+Winter+Wonderland+Lights+Switch+On Hope it helps :D Do you find this valuable? |

Yeah i agree from the description it does hint that he may be Merlins father!!!! Arthur meets his mother, Merlin meets his father.....would end the series on a good note! :D It will probably end up that Merlin is a Dragon Lord or something, and he will defeat the Dragon. Certainly sounds good anyways!!!! The trailer looks awesome :) Do you find this valuable? |

I agree with most that the Dragonlord will probably be Merlin's father. After all Merlin did mention his father one of the previous episodes. If this Dragonlord(cool name by the way) is Merlin's father I hope he stays on for the next season. I would hate to see him die just after Merlin meets him.I don't think Merlin lets the dragon free. I believe it will be Morgana. I swear I saw a preview awhile ago where Morgana is talking with the Great Dragon. It makes sense she would not be hesitant to free him. Also if the Dragon causes so much trouble and lives after he is free I would hate for Merlin to have that guilt on his shoulders. Even though he did promise to free the Dragon. In the end I mentioned before I don't want the Dragon to die. I want him to escape and live on so we can see more of him. I'm sure he has alot more wisdon to share. I also kind of feel sorry for him being locked up for so many years. Do you find this valuable? |

If you watch the video (The link I've posted above) and pause at 0:43 / 0:44 you see Merlin breaking the Dragon's chain, so I'm certain he will free the dragon. Do you find this valuable? |

A friend of Mine told me that while she was in Pierrefonds this summer they were filming a strange scene of Merlin shouting in the courtyard of the castle and looking in the air, we think he was yelling at the dragon must be the scene when the dragon gets free and she mentioned something about Merlin releasing it, he promised after all remember?.....think that too

I rewatched the video. To tell the truth if I wasn't told what to look for I would not guess that scene was Merlin freeing the Dragon. Even after wathching that scene several times its hard to tell. I wish they would release that trailer so its not shown at the Winter Wonderland Lights. I still never thought Merlin would free the Dragon. I wonder what led him to it. Maybe he is freeing him to help save the day. It seems odd he would free the Dragon only to try to kill it afterwards. Of course if freeing the Dragon leads Merlin to meeting the man who may be his father, that would be pretty cool. Do you find this valuable? |

Yesterday I was yet again on Wikipedia looking up the last episodes in the series. Apparently Morgana is teaming up with Mordred and becoming evil. So I think she's the one who releases the Dragon. Sigh...why do they have to kill the Dragon? He's so cool...

Youd think Merlin wouldnt have released the Dragon surely he cant be killed though Uther would never let him live if he was loose. Hes invaluble to Merlin i think he'll be lost without him, think the Dragon will mention anything to Arthur, Morganna, Gwen or Uther even about Merlins visits and his help he gave???

I just looked up the actor who plays Balinor. Now if this person is meant to be Merlin's father and I hope he is. I think the actor is the perfect person to play Merlin's father. I hope they choose him because there are some similarities between him and Colin. I also think it would make it interesting if Balinor was Merlin's father since it was Uther who is responsible for Balinor going into hiding. Which would most likely be the reason Merlin grew up without a father. So two things I'm hoping for, Balinor is Merlin's father and the Great Dragon does not die. Do you find this valuable? |
