Most British series are about 13 episodes. Some of them, like "Life on Mars", only have 8 eps per season!

I agree though, as an American I'm used to my shows having about 22 episodes each season. :)

The trouble is, Merlin takes about 6 - 8 months to film. If they lengthened the series, they would have to delay the releases to once every 2 years to fit in all the filming. I am OK with once a year 13 epis instead of only once every 2 years! Do you find this valuable?

...it takes Amercian shows just as long or longer to film, but they still crank out 22 episodes per season. I guess the British shows just can't afford it. And please don't say the crap of quality of quantity...American shows are not cheap looking, nor are they bad in the quality department.

I guess what I'm saying is...if America can do it..why can't our cousin's across the pond?

Well, Merlin does film in a lot of different locations, even going between Wales and France, whereas most US shows I've seen tend to film in a few different, probably close by locations, or use lots of sets. Do you find this valuable?

I live in America and I bought mine through Amazon.com this past spring. Season 1 DVD's weren't released here until April 2010. Season 2 just finished last week on SyFy...Season 2 DVD's will probably be released either in the Fall or next spring 2011. Where did you buy yours from? You must have gotten them out of Europe and the Region is different from US DVD players - unless you have one you can reprogram.

Most BBC Series are either 6 or 13 episodes. It must come down to budget and the time they have to film and develop about 10 hours of Merlin. Any more and we might be waiting even longer than we already are. Do you find this valuable?
